Progress 2

This is the start of my map for my bus route. I'm going to change the color to a lt. blue and maybe change the route colors to a red.

Progress

I have to say that working on this signage has given me a little more respect for signage everywhere. It's alot of hard work and dedication put into the work of designing signage or anyhting for that matter. I have come a long way with my signage and design elements period. I still have a work to do as far as becoming good at what I do but I will get there.

Thanksgiving break

I have to say that my Thanksgiving break was a little stressful. My daughter whom is 3 had to have surgery so the day before thanksgiving and a little bit of thanksgiving day was spent in the hospital. Other than that it was great, my daughter recovered very well, she's back to her smart, energetic self like she never had surgery. My family came down & we ate so much food that I'm still full!!

Elite Bus System
Omaha, Nebraska

Background - Omaha, Nebraska, the 42nd largest city in the United States. There are more than 1.2 million residents within a 50 mile radius of the City’s Center. In 1869horse drawn street cars provided Omaha with efficient transportation. The first electric streetcar began operating in 1890, and then in 1950 cars, freeways, expressways, city buses all marked the beginning of the end of streetcars. Elite Bus system is a public transit system being designed to fill the mass transit needs of Omaha Nebraska. It is scheduled to be up and running September 2010. Elite Bus system will include 100 bus routes and shuttles, it will also be a good economic boost, as it will seek to employ over, 4,000 drivers, operators and dispatchers and general management within the first year. In October 2010 The Susan G. Komen Hot Air Balloon Festival and Race Around the World is scheduled to begin and end in Omaha.

Audience: Our target audience includes 15-25 because their group may have negative views on public transportation, though it would benefit them most economically. Our primary target audience is 30-50 year old citizens working in the greater Omaha area. Lastly, 10-20 target audience because our newly designed buses system will be able to connect with our youth recreation services.

Objective: Create a system of transportation identity, signage and materials, such as; maps, bus routes, tokens, baggage tags, mobile tickets, that are well designed and, attractive and visually appealing to younger adults and older adults that works together as a complete package. The entire package will integrate typography, but the major elements should be clearly understood without the necessity of type. In order to make public transportation a viable alternative to driving, Elite Bus will be creating a new signage system that will be appealing and understandable by the different cultures that make up the population Omaha as well as the visitors from the surrounding areas.

Message: Elite Bus System (EBS) is revamping the transportation system in Omaha, Nebraska with signage that is visually appealing to younger and older adults and will be easier to read and understood by different cultures the city has

Deliverables: Elite Bus System will require the design and production of an identity logo, service maps, brochures, tickets, ticket kiosk, destination signage, billboard and outdoor advertisements.
